Cancelled car insurance policy?

i think im in trouble... ive had insurance with the same company for about a year and a half. now, i had my first missed payment (automatic withdrawal from my bank account) when i was in the hospital giving birth to my son a few months back. now, i have my maternity leave cheque deposited every 2 wkjs and sometimes it happens to land on the same night as when my insurance is withdrawn. in the past, its been ok and the cheque gets deposited before the insurance gets withdrawn. this week was not the case for the first time ever. now, im being told my insurance will be cancelled. now im just concerned. she said i may be able to get insurance from another company, but that chances are no one will do monthly payments. is this true? i mean i know insurance companies dont care why i didnt pay, but i find it very unfair. i cant afford a chunk of cash of $1500 or more. has anyone else been in this situation and had it work out that they could still do monthly installments and what company?
