Help on an english horror piece?

Im writing this for higher & its a horror. Its about a man who goes missing and all they find is the clothes he was wearing hanging on the washing line doused in petrol. I want to start it off with " December 1993 was a petrifying month for the people of Forks town". dose anyone have any good leads or volcab? thanks :)
