Who makes better tenor saxophones? Selmer or Buffet?

I was given a Buffet, and the person who gave it to me said to make sure it's something I will be playing for years to come. I'm not sure what model it is, but it says "Buffet, (something in French, APARIS" on the horn, and is a glossy, deep golden color with flowing leaves engraved into the metal.
